Be Careful with Your Words

Updated: Dec 1, 2019

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something” - Plato

I recently read an article in the HuffPost, where a pet-parent spoke of her loving relationship with her dog as well as the devastating loss. Amidst the candid reveal of her emotional story, she received a cold and ignorant comment from a reader; “she was just a pet”. I felt a deep pang of sadness as I was able to empathize with the pet-parent. As well, I was taken aback and found myself questioning how the reader could be so callous. A few words of wisdom, think before you speak, remember that words have power. They can build up, comfort and fortify, they can also tear down, destroy and demoralize. To all the pet-parents, the loss is life-shattering; the memories and love are life long. To the reader, shame on you.

Because I truly care.
